Eligibility Qualification & Age:

Category Education Qualification Age limit
Group “X” Candidate should have passed Intermediate/ 10+2/ Class XII or Equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology,and English with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Class XII

(OR)

Three year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / InstrumentationTechnology / Information Technology) from a government recognized polytechnic Institute with minimum 50% marks in overall aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma or in intermediate / matriculation if English is not a subject in diploma.

17 January 2000 and 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive)

Note – 1: Education Boards listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, shall only be permitted.

Note – 2: Exact aggregate % of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/ Intermediate/ Equivalent OR calculated as per the rules of concerned
Education Board shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not be rounded off to 50%).

Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

In this pace-II Physical Fitness Test (PFT) which would consist of

Written Test: All candidates who qualify PFT shall under take written test on the same day or subsequent day depending on the local conditions. The written test will be objective type and question paper shall be bilingual (English and Hindi) except for English paper. Answers are to be annotated on OMR sheet. Detailed procedure shall be explained before conduct of examination. Duration of written test will be 60 minutes and shall comprise of Physics, Maths and English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus. CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY
 Marking Pattern for Written Test:-
(i) 01 mark for every correct answer.
(ii) Nil (0) marks for un-attempted question.
(iii) 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer or choosing more than one option as answer.

Adaptability Test- 1

All candidates who pass the
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-1 (objective type written test) which
is to assess suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied
geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

Adaptability Test- 2

All candidates who pass Adaptability Test – 1 shall have to undertake Adaptability Test- 2 as per policy in vogue. Adaptability
Test- 2 is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

Medical Test

Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test -2 shall be medically examined in the Air Force Hospital, Dundigal. Medical Examination shall be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and existing policy in vogue.

  • (a) Blood Haemogram – Hb, TLC, DLC
  • (b) Urine RE/ME
  • (c) Biochemistry :- (i) Blood Sugar Fasting & PP (ii) Serum Cholesterol (iii) Urea, Uric acid,Creatinine (iv) LFT—Serum Bilurubin, SGOT, SGPT
  • (d) X- Ray chest (PA view) (e) ECG (R) (f) Tests for Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Abuse.
  • (g) Any other test necessary in the opinion of the Medical Officer.

Training:

Enrolment shall be for an initial period of 20 years (subject to condition) which may be extended upto the age of 57 years
(subject to service conditions). Initially, candidates shall be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at designated Basic Training Institutes located at various Air Force Stations. On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified
durations which shall include Security training or any other training as per service requirements. Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit.

Job Specification:

(a) Automobile Technician. As an Automobile Technician you will drive all types of light, medium and heavy automobiles, load carriers
and specialist vehicles like cranes, towing tractors, fork lifters etc., subject to service exigencies. You will also carry out minor repairs, day to
day maintenance and basic level servicing of the common user vehicles and specialist vehicles in the Indian Air Force inventory.
